The school surroundings provide and ideal learning environment and include spacious grounds, excellent fixed play equipment and a well grassed oval.  The main red brick building comprises 5 classrooms with direct access to a large multi-purpose library room, an office, staffroom, disabled and staff toilets and a sick bay.  Two weatherboard buildings adjacent to the main building comprise a multi-purpose room with cooking facilities, an art room and storage area.

Parental involvement is encouraged in all aspects of school operations.  Parents are involved in supporting curriculum programs, fundraising and the development of facilities and resources.

The school maintains links with other schools in the district via membership of the Calder Cluster and the Physical Education Committee.  District schools combine for cultural performances, camps, sports and other special events.  School staff also maintain links with Bendigo schools via curriculum networks.

The school also liaises closely with the local pre-school to encourage smooth transition arrangements.  The majority of exiting students pursue their secondary education at Wedderburn College with the remaining students attending non-government and government secondary colleges in Bendigo.

The school provides a comprehensive curriculum in the eight key learning areas of the Education Department’s Curriculum and Standards Framework.  The school offers programs in:  English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Health & Physical Education, The Arts, Studies of Society and Environment and Languages Other Than English (Indonesian).  In addition, special programs are in place to address the learning needs of all children and to particularly cater for children experiencing difficulties in learning.  Eg:  Reading Recovery, Bridging the Gap, Perceptual Motor Program and Solving the Jigsaw.  The school currently has 3 classes operating for the core subjects with Science, Technology, LOTE, Music and Library delivered as specialist areas.

The school community has identified two priorities for the new Charter.  These are:  Literacy and Numeracy.
